Our Story
The land that Big Tree is situated on was originally developed by a local family in the 1980s. The family built a barn, fenced in pastures, and even constructed their family home here. Over the years, it has been a fully functioning farm with all sorts of animals including llamas, horses, goats, and even 30 or so head of cattle!
Sadly, the land and farm fell on hard times for about 5 years causing many of the existing structures, barn, pastures, and fencing to begin to deteriorate. In 2021, we found it and absolutely fell in love with the land and its potential.
There are endless possibilities for what this space can be - our immediate vision is to:
Care for the pastures, structures, as well as the woods and natural landscape
Work towards building up an animal sanctuary into a safe and comfortable forever home for animals in need
Restore the natural beauty of the woodland trails
Share the joy and healing this place provides with others – both creature and human alike
Every donation helps us move towards these goals, grow, and share with as many others as possible!
Cole & Bri
Hello and welcome! We are so glad you’re here! A little bit about us:
We have been super fortunate to have family and friends that help support this dream and this place and are super grateful to have this opportunity to work with the land and share it with others – both human and animal alike. Our day jobs allow us to work from home – Cole is a cofounder of Buoy Hydration and Brianna works in Learning & Development for Deloitte Consulting.
In any waking moment of our free time, you can find us working on the nonprofit and trying to improve the state of the land and the creatures that live here. Lucy can almost always be found nearby, even if she’s exploring the closest mud puddle or stealing toys from the donkeys.
